Labour takes a beating
A badly mauled Tony Blair was last night facing emphatic backbench calls to return to the domestic agenda and display a new respect for his party after Labour suffered its worst 24 hours at the polling booths since the mid-70s.

I personally refused to vote Labour this time around, although I respect Tony Blair, I think he has been badly informed while making critical decisions and has a tendancy to try and achieve the impossible... I think he shares Richard Bransons way of thinking, and that if he tries hard enough anything is possibile.
Sadly this is not always the case, and the running of a country depends on more than one person. Quite often it is true that the higher up the ladder you go, the less influence you have over things that matter (unless you are in a dictatorship). Every choice has to be debated, discussed and often diluted.
I feel sad that every political party is fighting for the 'middle ground' looking for the most statistically pleasing words, instead of what really needs to be done to sort the country out. I doubt that politics actually works, or if it does then it works in much the same way as the media...
Always giving people what it thinks we want, and trying to get it right by giving us the information on which we make up a common consensus.
I think it was churchill who said "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
