Blair will stay if he loses EU poll

Tony Blair would not quit as prime minister even if he lost the referendum on the EU constitution, his closest political ally said tonight.

Former minister Peter Mandelson said Mr Blair would be "irresponsible even to think of walking away" if he lost the poll.
